Chapters 2-3 of Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt 12/9/13
Today we read chapters 1 through 3, which tells us that Winnee is having difficulties at her house because she hates being by herself and wants a sibling so her parents could watch someone else. Also she wants a pet like a toad to put in a cage or just to spend time with something.
Chapter 4-5 12/10/13
At this part of the book, Winnee decides to go into the forest and finds a boy thats wearing tattered clothes and drinking from a spring of water from the ground. She is very thirsty and wants to drink from the spurt of water but then the boy refused, saying it was probably dirty.
Chapters 6-7 12/11/13
In these chapters the Tucks explain to Winnee about the bubbling spring of immortality. The guy in the yellow suit hears everything and starts to follow them, his mouth turning ever so slightly into a smile.
Chapters 9-13
In these chapters the Tucks go home with winnie and they show her around the house and have breakfast.
Chapters 14-18
Winnee is starting to like the Tucks and understand their pain. Miles Tuck takes Winnee out fishing by the lake to get breakfast. The next breakfast they had jolly flapjacks because Miles is horrible at fishing. At the end of chapter 18 the man in the yellow suit comes to the Tucks house and asks if he can come in.
Chapters 19-25
So at chapter 19 through the end of this book, the man in the yellow suit was shot by Mae Tuck with a shotgun, then the constable arrives and declares Mae to get. . .hanged. Then the Tucks decide to make an escape plan to get her out of the jail. In the night of the jailbreak, the Tucks break out Mae and trade her out with Winifred. In the morning the Constable let her out. Two weeks later, the toad was being chased by a dog, so Winifred put the springs water on the toad.
Summary of Book!
Winifred enters the woods and notices a boy drinking from a spring. Then she gets escorted to their house and stays there for a few days. She notices that the Tucks are nice and then the man in the yellow suit finds Winnie with a contract taking the woods away. Winnie is forced to follow and then Mae Tuck shot the man. Afterwards he dies and Mae is sentenced to get hanged. The Tuck rescue Mae and then hit the road. Three years later, a forest fire started and destroyed the wood. Before Winifred grew old, however, she poured the water from the spring Jesse gave her onto the toad. and the toad lived forever.
